Compatibility with Other Addons

Animation Editor Pro is designed to integrate well with most Blender workflows and addons. The primary consideration involves its interaction with Blender's native Non-Linear Animation (NLA) system.

Interaction with the NLA Editor

Animation Editor Pro functions as a complete, self-contained replacement for the standard NLA Editor, delivering a workflow designed for speed and advanced control by consolidating the NLA's essential features and introducing exclusive tools for professional animation. Because of this integrated design, these are two parallel systems managing the same animation data, and they cannot be used simultaneously on the same armature. Attempting to modify an animation with both tools at once can lead to data conflicts and unpredictable results.

Workflow Flexibility and Transitioning

While Animation Editor Pro provides a complete start-to-finish toolset, it also offers the flexibility to hand your work off to Blender's native NLA system for specific pipeline needs or other workflow requirements. It is important to note that this is a one-way transition; the addon is designed to export its data to the NLA Editor, but importing or converting a pre-existing NLA setup is not yet supported.

This transition process is managed through dedicated options Keep NLA Strips and Keep Animation Tweaks within the Bake and Clear Editor operators. For specific details on how to configure this hand-off, please refer to the documentation for those operators.

Blender Version: Remember that Animation Editor Pro requires Blender 4.0 or later, as mentioned in the Installation section.
